The LUPD has started preparing and delivering meals to displaced families from areas that were bombed and their homes were damaged, as part of a project to strengthen food security and socio-economic resilience in crises at the community level funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). This rapid action comes as part of the LUPD’s emergency plan to support displaced families after the start of the Israeli aggression against Lebanon.
This community kitchen in the Zahle/Bekaa region provides 100 meals a day distributed on a regular basis to displaced men and women starting October 23, 2024, after training them in the art of cutting, cooking, decorating and serving food. We draw attention to the fact that the participating group is a partnership between disabled and non-disabled women and men of various nationalities, with the aim of achieving social inclusion, and for people with disabilities to play an active role in supporting the displaced.
