Today’s Access Kitchen beneficiaries were trained on the concept of teamwork and the power of a group to advocate for a cause.
The training addressed the rights of people with disabilities in Lebanon, the women’s vision of the opportunity to be in an inclusive kitchen and how to work to provide such an opportunity for others, as well as work to transform society into a society that respects difference and cultural diversity and supports our cause.
The day concluded with making a painting of a tree whose roots signify the strength of the group in steadfastness, continuity and not being defeated, and how it will bear fruit with the fingerprint of each of the women an environment that respects others and does not judge them due to false beliefs, and the group agreed to plan their first advocacy activity soon.
This workshop comes as part of a series of trainings on advocacy for women with disabilities by introducing the topic by defining difference and diversity and how it is reflected in our kitchen, then talking about social models and diversity terminology.
