Project period: July 2024 to December 2027

Protection and Case Management

  • Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Case Management: Specialized support and case management services were provided to survivors of gender-based violence, enhancing safety and facilitating access to resources. A total of 160 survivors were targeted, specifically women and girls with disabilities.
  • Protection Case Management: A total of 95 beneficiaries (persons with disabilities or caregivers) were targeted.

Economic Support Through Cash Assistance

  • Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance: Financial assistance provided to economically vulnerable families, enabling them to meet their basic needs and improve their livelihoods. LUPD staff completed 550 needs assessment forms for families with a person with a disability. From these families, 358 of the most vulnerable were selected for multi-purpose cash assistance, amounting to $420 for 202 families and $500 for 156 families of different nationalities.
  • Emergency Cash Assistance during the War: An emergency cash assistance service was established during the war to help families, especially those with members with disabilities, during sudden emergencies such as the loss of a family breadwinner, exposure to violence, displacement, or severe circumstances. Forms were completed to identify and assess emergency cases for 200 families, and 199 cash assistance payments of $200 were provided to each displaced family with a person with a disability.

Community Resilience and Social Cohesion

  • Community empowerment and social integration were enhanced through local initiatives led by community committees. Training on disability in emergency situations was provided to the two existing committees in Baalbek and Bar Elias during the war. The Baalbek committee consists of 5 Lebanese women, and the Bar Elias committee consists of 8 women.
  • Five volunteers from the committees were mobilized to participate in information dissemination, distribution of assistance, and referral work during the war.
  • After the war, advanced training was provided to the two local committees, and two additional committees were formed. Through continuous follow-up and capacity building, each of the four committees prepared an idea for a local initiative to be implemented on International Disability Day 2025. The issues of the initiatives center on: society’s perception of persons with disabilities, economic and social inclusion, access to services in an accessible and inclusive manner, and caregivers of persons with disabilities and the importance of their access to information.
  • Intensive work is currently underway to prepare for the activities proposed by each committee. Committee members have also been active in community awareness, spreading across different areas and delivering community awareness sessions on disability, diversity, and inclusion, reaching 750 people during 2026.

Video and Poster Production

  • A video and poster were produced and used to train staff of the financial service provider Whish Money on inclusion and disability.
