Building on the reality of the escalating economic crisis and the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, this project aimed to respond to the basic and emergency needs of families of persons with disabilities in the Saida area (South). The project was implemented in partnership with the Movement for Peace (MPDL) and with co-funding from Barcelona, Toledo, and Castile.
The project focused on alleviating the severity of the crisis through the provision of essential in-kind assistance, distributing:
- Food parcels benefiting 41 persons with disabilities.
- Personal hygiene kits for females benefiting 89 beneficiaries (women with disabilities, or mothers and wives of persons with disabilities), in addition to 37 beneficiaries who received both (food and personal hygiene kits).
In addition to in-kind support, the project included a detailed assessment of the needs of 318 families of persons with disabilities to understand the challenges resulting from the accumulated crises. It also worked on preparing and implementing an awareness plan on pandemic-related issues and how persons with disabilities should cope with them.
This vital intervention contributed to meeting urgent primary needs for persons with disabilities and their families in the face of difficult circumstances.
