A statement of solidarity issued by the Women’s Civil Society Platform in Lebanon with the Lebanese and Palestinians in the face of Israeli aggression

The Feminist Civil Society Platform in Lebanon expresses its concern about what is happening in the region and condemns the attacks and massacres committed against innocent people in Lebanon and Palestine.

At a time when the corridors of the Security Council and the United Nations are filled with delegations and meetings in order to calm the situation in Lebanon and the region, we see the Israeli enemy, in full view and hearing of the whole world, persist in killing civilians, including children, women and the elderly. Israel has proven that it operates as a terrorist organization and an enemy that does not abide by any international and non-international rules, resolutions and treaties, even the rules of engagement no longer exist and thus violates international humanitarian law in its articles related to the protection of women and children during wars.

Recognizing the suffering of civilians, including children, women and the elderly, in the case of Israeli attacks on the south, Beirut and other Lebanese areas, and that we are concerned in the platform that we find Israel doing the same scenario and the war of annihilation that it did and still does in Gaza, and that we seek to work to defuse the war that will not leave or damage and will kill thousands of innocent people, immediate action must be taken to prevent Israel from perpetrating more massacres against civilians in order to establish security and safety in the region, and to resort to international resolutions and treaties that must be adhered to by all parties, because the situation in the region To prevent Israel from committing more massacres against civilians in order to establish security and safety in the region, and to resort and refer to international resolutions and treaties that all parties must abide by, because the situation in the region is accelerating frighteningly and we see the entire region on the brink of a major war, this war whose arena will not only be Lebanon but will move to other arenas that will turn regional or larger than that.

The only occupation that exists in the world in the 21st century is Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories. Therefore, the key to peace and peace in the region is to find a just and comprehensive solution for all parties, to have a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, and to resolve the refugee issue within international and Arab treaties and agreements.

The Feminist Civil Society Platform in Lebanon demands:

  1. Working to defuse the war in Lebanon and the region: Demanding the activation of international laws and treaties, and intensifying diplomatic pressure on major countries to take immediate steps to stop hostilities to ensure the protection of the rights of women and vulnerable groups.
  2. Protecting civilians, including women, children and the elderly: Launch a campaign to reject the crimes committed by Israel against civilians, and work with international and regional organizations to urge member states to take urgent measures to spare women and children from the scourge of war and ensure their protection.
  3. Emergency response to IDPs and displaced persons: Organize lobbying and communication campaigns with international and local authorities to provide shelter, food, and medical aid to IDPs and ensure that their human rights are respected in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the two International Covenants, and the Declaration on the Rights of the Child.
  4. Health care for victims of the conflict in Lebanon: Strengthen efforts to provide specialized medical care for the injured, especially women and children who have sustained injuries that may lead to permanent disabilities, and work to place these issues on the national and international agenda to ensure adequate funding for their care.
  5. Immediately halt arms transfers and support for Israel: Continued support for Israel in its aggression and the transfer of arms and ammunition to Israel is a grave violation of human rights and international humanitarian law and constitutes complicity in international crimes, including complicity in the ongoing genocide.
