MP Najat Aoun visited the office of the Lebanese Union for Persons with Motor Disabilities in Beirut, where she met with the president of the union, Silvana Al-Laqis, and a number of unionists.
During the meeting, Aoun expressed her interest in the issues of people with disabilities, noting the challenges they face in their quest for economic and social integration. The discussion centered on one of the most prominent of these challenges, which is currently Lebanon’s delay in preparing for the implementation of the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Aoun also shared with the federalists a set of ideas to support this issue, including social protection and how to make it inclusive.
The meeting concluded with the need for follow-up and coordination between the two parties.
