Emergency Program 2024

With the start of the new wave of Israeli aggression, the LUPD mobilized its efforts on all Lebanese territories to accompany our displaced people from the villages of the south and the southern suburbs of Beirut, and to fill a gap in meeting the enormous needs of displaced persons with disabilities and their families.

Our emergency teams in Saida, Beirut, Mount Lebanon, Byblos, and the Central and Northern Bekaa are working on the following axes:

  1. Communicating and connecting with civil and civil coalitions, associations and organizations working in relief to activate the referral system and meet the needs of disabled individuals for medical aids and basic in-kind needs during the displacement phase.
  2. Reproducing the necessary awareness-raising materials on how to evacuate and shelter persons with disabilities and their needs, in addition to the minimum standards that shelters should meet in a way that does not compromise the dignity of the displaced person with a disability. These materials were distributed to those involved in the relief process in the official and civil sectors.
  3. Coordinating with the official authorities that manage shelters (schools, educational complexes, universities…), with the aim of sheltering displaced persons with disabilities and their families, and referring the displaced to specific places in light of the chaos that characterized the first phase of displacement.
  4. Providing as much in-kind and material assistance as possible from the LUPD’s branches and offices to displaced persons with disabilities, and meeting specific needs with financial allowances from the our budget.

The emergency teams at the LUPD work in very harsh conditions and with the available resources in order to provide the basic needs of displaced persons with disabilities, both Lebanese and refugees. We will be at the service of our people as you have always known us.
