Lebanese Transparency Association (LTA)

Founded in May 1999, the Lebanese Transparency Association is the Lebanese branch of Transparency International. It is the first Lebanese NGO focused on reducing corruption and promoting the principles of good governance.

Recognizing the unacceptable levels of corruption in Lebanon and the need to take action against it, a group of businessmen, academics, economists, lawyers and intellectuals came together to establish theLebanese Transparency Association in May 1999 in an attempt to reduce corruption through civil society.

The organization resorts to any means necessary to fight corruption, improve the quality of life and encourage civil society to take measures towards transparency and accountability. LTA does not investigate or expose individual cases of corruption, but advocates for reform by focusing on systemic improvement and building alliances with other anti-corruption stakeholders, including government, parliamentarians, the private sector, media organizations, the international community, and civil society organizations.
