Child with Autism Subjected to Verbal and Physical Violence

Yasmina posted a video on her TikTok account in which she talks about how her brother (a child with autism) was subjected to verbal and physical violence by the employees and owner of Café Noel, in the town of Baqata – Chouf.

The girl tells how her brother, who loves chocolate, used to frequent the café, but on his last visit, she says, he was verbally abused by the staff at the café, at the behest of the owner, and one of them pushed him out of the café. When the child was able to communicate with his parents, he told them what happened, and they took him back to the café.

The owner of the café initially denied what happened and denied knowing the child, but then he soon admitted the child’s full account of being verbally abused and pushed out of the café, but he did not care about it, and his excuse was “not to upset the Sheikhs”!

Yasmina denounced what happened with her brother, under the title “What a shame!”, and put the incident in front of public opinion, which was met with reactions of solidarity with the autistic child by the site’s visitors.

The Disability Rights Monitor in turn puts Yasmina’s video in front of the concerned parties and condemns the continuous exposure of persons with disabilities in Lebanon to various types of violence.
